Soybean rust once again did not make it to Iowa in 2009, but it wasn't from a lack of trying. The disease was found in a record 575 counties in 2009, the farthest north being in Illinois.

Checkoff saves soybean farmers unnecessary rust treatments

Starting in 2010, USB, the North Central Soybean Research Program and state checkoff programs will leverage checkoff funds to fund the soybean rust sentinel plot program (mostly in the South), while USDA will support the ipmPIPE Web site and one predictive model.
